Circular Motion - Centripetal Force

Centripetal Force is a force that acts on a body that is moving in a circle around a point and is always directed towards the centre of the circle.

As a body is traveling in a circle at a constant speed its velocity is always changing as its direction in constantly changing, this means that a force is always acting upon it.

Centripetal acceleration acts at right angles to the direction of travel at any given point meaning that it also acts toward the centre of the circle.

Centripetal Force can be calculated by using the equation below:

F = Centripetal force
m = mass
v = velocity
r = radius
